Population Institute Senior Fellow and Director of FP/Earth Céline Delacroix’s article “Declining Fertility and Inconsistencies of Natalism” was featured in the Diplomatie No. 136 November-December 2025 edition published by Areion Group. The article dives into how natalist policies and discourses, motivated by cultural, religious, geopolitical, or economic imperatives, aim to increase the number of births by encouraging, or even forcing, the population to have more children, and explores how effective these policies are on a global scale. Céline emphasizes that the global movement for reproductive rights and access to family planning is being undermined by pronatalist policies that prioritize population growth at the expense of the fundamental right of every individual to freely decide on the desired number of children.
