Population Institute Co-Hosts Summer Intern Series
July 01, 2013
This summer the Population Institute, in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund- Washington Office and the Universal Access Project, is hosting a two-part intern reception series titled “Health, Rights, and Cupcakes.” The first reception, which took place at the offices of the Population Institute last week, focused on female genital mutilation/cutting. The June 26 briefing gave Washington-area interns an opportunity to learn about this widespread abuse of human rights and international efforts to curb it. The second reception, which will take place on July 10th, will focus on adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Jennie Wetter, the Director of Public Policy for the Population Institute, said, “The interns who are working in Washington this summer are tomorrow’s leaders. These briefings afford them a chance to speak with experts in women’s reproductive health and rights, but it also allows them to make connections with other interns interested in these issues.”
