Digital Communications Associate

A Digital Communications Associate is being sought by the Population Institute a non-profit, non-governmental organization that works worldwide with key leadership groups to educate them about population, and seeks to promote universal access to family planning information, education, and services.  We envision a world where girls and women have achieved full gender equality; all women have access to reproductive health services, every child is a wanted child, and where global population is brought into balance with a healthy global environment and resource base.

Position Summary

This position provides digital communications & administrative support to the office. The digital communications associate will be responsible for supporting the Director of Public Policy in running Population Institute’s digital accounts. Beyond general communications support the digital communications associate will represent the Population Institute at events, will be responsible for helping with social media, writing blog posts, fact sheets and various reports. This position reports to the Director of Public Policy.


To be considered for this position the candidate must possess the following qualifications:

·         A minimum of a bachelor's degree or five years of relevant office experience;

·         Excellent organizational and research skills;

·         Strong attention to detail and deadlines;

·         Ability to complete multiple detail-oriented tasks with limited supervision;

·         Basic graphic design skills very desirable;

·         Experience managing social media;

·         Experience with databases and website design desirable;

·         Good written and verbal communication skills;

·         Ability to juggle and prioritize tasks; and

·         A sense of humor, a collaborative spirit, creativity and a commitment to the Population Institute’s mission.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing our various social media accounts;
  • Conduct background research for factsheets and reports;
  • Assist in the writing and dissemination of factsheets and reports;
  • Attend conference and meetings, as needed;
  • Assist with events organized by the Institute;
  • Prepare documents, reports and presentations; and
  • Assist in clerical duties and other duties as assigned.
